The band has amassed numerous charting singles and sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Dokken consisted of founder Donn Dokken on vocals, George Lynch on lead guitar, Juan Croucier on bass, and Mick Brown on drums. In 1983, Croucier left Dokken to join the band Ratt and was replaced by Jeff Pilson. Dokken released their debut album, Breaking the Chains, in 1983, which reached the bottom of the Billboard album charts. Afterward, Elektra Records allocated the band a substantial budget, and the results were immediate. In 1984, Dokken recorded the powerful album Tooth and Nail, which sold over a million copies in America alone. Among the several hits on the record were "Into the Fire," "Just Got Lucky," and "Alone Again." In 1985 and 1987, the band recorded two more platinum albums, gifting fans with such wonderful songs as "In My Dreams" and "It's Not Love." Their subsequent path to success was marred by the budding disagreements between Lynch and Dokken, which led to the band's split in 1988. That same year, the band's farewell live album, Beast From the East, was released. Lynch soon formed his own project, Lynch Mob, while Don Dokken signed a solo contract with Geffen Records and released the album Up From the Ashes in 1990. Pilson initially fronted War And Peace, but soon returned to writing with Dokken. Currently, Dokken and Brown remain essential members of the band. After several guitarist changes, Don Dokken's friend John Levin stepped in to fill the guitar role in 2004. Barry Sparks replaced Jeff Pilson on bass. In 2008, Dokken returned to the rock scene with their first studio album in four years, Lightning Strikes Again. The album was critically acclaimed, and the band debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #133, breaking records dating back to 1995. The album's success was attributed to a sound similar to the band's 1980s material
